Maria Cleary has freelanced as a Brisbane based designer and maker for more than 35 years and offers a breadth of experience in exhibition, theatrical and cultural event design and production. Her professional journey began with her interest in and knowledge of costume, fashion and textiles, but an ability to think creatively, communicate openly, understand materials, get organised, respond to a brief and work with a team has taken her down all sorts of interesting design and production paths since the heady days of the 1980's!

In 1999, Maria became, and remains, a one-person company. She completed her Grad Dip Museum Studies (Deakin University) in 2009. Maria Cleary Design continues to provide friendly, committed design, production and project management services to the arts and cultural heritage sector, government and community organisations, education and advertising.
